My Journey
Raili Maripuu is a native Estonian based in the UK who has been practising yoga for over 20 years. She began her daily Ashtanga Yoga practice in 2009 and has been teaching for over 10 years.
Her main teachers are Lino Miele (Italy) and Hamish Hendry (UK). Raili is one of Lino Miele's Recognised Teachers . She graduated in June 2016 from the Ashtanga Yoga in-depth study taught by Lino Miele, completing 500 training hours. She also undertakes further annual studies in Italy at the Lino Miele Studio in August (20hr annually for the past 10 years) and in Kerala, India with Lino Miele (60hr annually for the past 10 years).
In 2016, Raili founded Ashtanga Estonia — a traditional Ashtanga Yoga school in Tallinn. She developed a systematic and methodical training programme for assistant teachers at the shala, which she has been running annually since 2019.
In the UK, Raili runs the Ashtanga Yoga programme at Yoga Reading and teaches regular weekly classes at The Little Yoga Studio in Twyford.
Raili teaches Ashtanga following the traditional method, known as parampara in Sanskrit, where the teacher passes knowledge directly to the student. Her teaching style is encouraging and supportive, helping students establish their individual daily practice.
An entrepreneur and former dancer, Raili practises Ashtanga Yoga 5–6 times a week and teaches weekly in both Estonia and the UK.
My Philosophy
I believe that consistency is the key to transformation. The practice isn't about the perfect pose, but about the presence you bring to each moment on the mat. My role as a teacher is to create a supportive environment where every student can discover their own path through this ancient practice.
